Casa Malaparte is one of the most iconic and extraordinary architectural achievements of the 20th century. Located on the Punta Massullo promontory, this isolated and spectacular site overlooks the sea. Renowned for its minimalist design and seamless integration into the surrounding landscape, Casa Malaparte gained additional fame as the backdrop for Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film Contempt (Le Mépris). Today, the villa serves as a private residence and an open-air venue for exclusive events. The most recent was Jacquemus’ fashion show, titled La Casa.
Architectural Features
Casa Malaparte was constructed between 1938 and 1942 based on designs by architect Adalberto Libera, though much of the final design reflects the personal vision of its owner, writer Curzio Malaparte. Its style blends rationalism with classical influences, emphasizing a unique relationship with the natural surroundings. Built using local materials, the house is characterized by its red walls and rooftop terrace designed as a staircase. Among its distinctive features are the monumental staircase leading to the flat roof—used as a living space and a vantage point over the sea—and a large fireplace that dominates the interior. The minimalist interior reinforces the harmony between the villa and the surrounding landscape.

The Latest Show
In June 2024, the Jacquemus fashion house celebrated its 15th anniversary with an exclusive runway show at Casa Malaparte. Titled La Casa, the collection paid homage to Italian Dolce Vita, featuring garments that combined elegance and sensuality, with vibrant colors and sheer fabrics. The choice of Casa Malaparte as the venue was intentional, as Simon Porte Jacquemus, the brand’s founder, cited inspiration from Jean-Luc Godard’s film shot at the villa. The event drew an array of celebrities, including Dua Lipa, Gwyneth Paltrow, Elodie, and Ghali, who attended the show on the stunning terrace alongside Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Manu Rios, Tony Effe, Laetitia Casta, Peggy Gou, Francois Civil, Tina Kunakey, and Adèle Exarchopoulos. The show also marked the runway debut of Jennie Kim from Blackpink, who closed the event in an elegant black backless gown. Capri 360 managed the event’s logistics, from private transfers for guests and models to local mobility across the island. A fleet of boats transported VIPs and media from Marina Grande to Casa Malaparte, culminating in an after-party aboard a yacht off the coast of Capri.
