Featuring four en-suite bedrooms, a solarium, terraces, lush gardens, and a pool with a view, this retreat balanced between the world’s “living room” and Monte Solaro was once home to famed writer Raffaele La Capria and is now listed for a cool €10 million, according to insiders.
Who Was Dudu’
Raffaele La Capria (1922-2022) was one of the most prominent Italian writers and screenwriters of the 20th century. After earning a law degree, La Capria lived abroad for a long period before settling in Rome. His most celebrated novel, Mortal Wound (1961), won the prestigious Strega Prize and is considered a masterpiece of Italian literature. Among his other notable works are Love and Psyche and The Snow of Vesuvius. La Capria collaborated as a screenwriter on several films directed by Francesco Rosi, including Hands Over the City, and worked with other notable Italian filmmakers. Over his career, he received many accolades, such as the Campiello Lifetime Achievement Award and the Chiara Prize. He was married to actress Ilaria Occhini, with whom he had a daughter. La Capria’s writing is acclaimed for its refined style and profound exploration of themes such as identity and memory, often tied to his native city of Naples.
